Opponents' Pokemon
The process ensures that all Pokemon have different items. In a Level 50 battle, the Pokemon is reselected if a Pokemon's number is 850 or greater. If a Pokemon is an Unown, the Pokemon is reselected.
If a Pokemon has the same species as that of one of the player's rental Pokemon, it is reselected.
The happiness of all Pokemon that opponents have is set to 0. Any instance of Return is changed to Frustration.
Opponents' and rental Pokemon are chosen depending on the number of consecutive battles won.

The initial six Pokemon when a tournament starts are chosen from two groups. The number of Pokemon from each group depends on the number of swaps made. These Pokemon are chosen before the opponent's Pokemon are chosen.
